McDonald's Corporation is the world's largest chain of hamburger fast food restaurants, serving around 64 million customers daily. Headquartered in the United States, the corporation was founded by businessman Ray Kroc in 1955 after he purchased the rights to a small hamburger chain operated by the eponymous Maurice and Richard McDonald.
In 2006, McDonald's introduced its "Forever Young" brand by redesigning all of their restaurants, the first major redesign since the 1970s.
The design includes the traditional McDonald's yellow and red colours, but the red is subdued to terra cotta, the yellow was turned golden for a more "sunny" look, and olive and sage green were also added. To warm up their look, the restaurants have less plastic and more brick and wood, with modern hanging lights to produce a softer glow. Contemporary art or framed photographs hang on the walls.
With changes being made to the majority of McDonald’s restaurants, not all changes are visible but all changes are designed to improve the service offered to the customers.

With a reputation for demanding excellence from its supplier partners, McDonald’s has chosen the UK’s most advanced waterproofing solution for the roof refurbishment at two of its branches. The product is also being considered at other sites around the country.

It is a move that once again confirms Acrypol + as Number 1 in the refurbishment solutions industry – a position which is undoubted by a league of dedicated local authority and housing association specifiers, building owners and contractors who regularly utilise it.

The approval for manufacturer Acrypol Products to commence initial installation at a selected location involved demanding Health & Safety training, in line with McDonald’s requirements. Only manufacturers and contractors who fully comply with a strict safety policy are permitted to work on any of the company’s sites.

Acrypol has a long-term track record of success. It remains tried and trusted for nearly two decades and with rocketing insurance premiums and site restrictions banning heat at roof level, Acrypol + is increasingly specified for offering high performance waterproofing properties and a fast, heat free method of application

It incorporates the very best chemical compound, manufactured exclusively by Acrypol – it is often imitated but never equalled. Acrypol + is an acrylic resin, dispersed in a solvent form to a semi liquid paste, the coating film dries to a tough durable yet "elastic" overlay.

For increased density and to ensure Acrypol + will even fill gaps and cracks up to 10mm wide, the compound incorporates "fibres" which literally act as a lattice, filling and bridging any weak areas. Trapped water in the substrate will naturally evaporate due to the product’s chemical structure.

Acrypol + generally does not require a primer and is ideal for asphalt, asbestos, metal, concrete, brick, bituminous, PVC, slate or lead surfaces. It is also ideal for the repair and refurbishment of leaking gutters. Acrypol also supply anti-slip floor coating which would work well in the restaurants, for both the back of the kitchen and front of house.

McDonalds are now considering using the same waterproofing system at other restaurants within the chains, to guarantee the life expectancy of the roof, in terms of the future of the company.
