Battersea Reach is set to be the next big thing- apartment developments on the banks of the River Thames in London, with restaurants, shops, gyms and underground parking. Properties in these waterside quarters would attract a cosmopolitan mix of overseas and British buyers, who would pay a premium to live there.
Already there are shops and a lively gastro pub with a large terrace overlooking the water. On a sunny it is buzzing with people enjoying a drink after work. "Battersea Reach is quickly becoming a destination in its own right," says Mark Griffiths of developer St George.
The buildings on the fringe of Chelsea harbour encompass stunning views and awe inspiring architecture, with a twist of contemporary interiors. Battersea reach has certain gained full marks on presentation, but was the journey getting here, as smooth as its appearance now?
A new basement car park within the stunning, award winning Thames riverside Battersea Reach development required a hard wearing, smooth and maintenance free concrete topping that could be protected against dusting, tyre marks and petro-chemical staining.
Global building product manufacturer Sika provided its non-metallic Sikafloor–2 Syntop system, an advanced flooring solution that is ideal for high wearing applications such as car parks, and is as visibly appealing as it is functional.
This impressive and decorative zero maintenance product has an excellent reputation for long life, is impact resistant and has an increased resistance to oils and grease, clearly a benefit in a car park situated in an elegant location of London.
Developer St George PLC appointed specialist concrete contractor Foundations Development to apply the system when the concrete decks were created. The single, easy to install operation involves the sprinkling and trowel application of the Sikafloor-2 Syntop hardener into the fresh wet concrete floor, prior to power floating in order to create a smooth coloured monolithic floor.
To complete the surface and provide the perfect finish, the concrete was impregnated and sealed with Proseal to prevent dusting. This clear acrylic resin polymer is a curing membrane which is easily and economically applied by spray or roller in only one coat. Once the concrete was set, the surface was then ready for the application of traffic directions and stall markings and open to traffic.
The now complete underground car park is located within the award-winning Battersea Reach development which fronts the River Thames and is adjacent to Wandsworth Bridge. With views towards Chelsea Harbour and down river towards Westminster, this 13 acre site offers over 1,000 apartments and 400,000 square feet of commercial accommodation.
From
basement waterproofing through to contemporary interiors, every last detail was scrutinized and dedicated to a high-quality finish- these new apartments are for those seeking luxury and ease all for a comfortable price. The journey getting here maybe have been troublesome, however the essence of sophistication makes it all the more worth it.
